15/7 Claire - Technology shopping

Today we had a full on city day. The morning we spent in the technology/electrical district. Hmmm interesting. The “highlight” being an electrical store the size of John Lewis. Who’d have thought you could full up two aisles of the 2nd floor with more internet cables than you could shake a stick at. Ian was quite disappointed that there wasn’t the obvious gadgets of the future here. We were lead to believe that we’d be looking at the new gadgets that would be available at home in three years time. There seemed to be much the same sort of technology just different things are popular. Brain trainers are massive, hundreds of the bloody things. Chunky square ugly flip phones, there isn’t a person not looking where they are going due to one of these being held in front of their face. We did find pocket projectors which seemed to be literally a mini litepro the size of an ipod that projected video 6” x 5” on to a screen. New but as far as I could see completely useless, why not just play on a ipod/computer?

Later in the day we did visit the Sony Building where 4 of it’s 8 floors where dedicated to showcasing new products such as the Roller which was an egg shaped music player that also danced to the music by rolling and spinning across the surface.
