The Tokyo Fish Market starts at 4am each morning where they bring in and sell to every restaurant in Tokyo the days fish. Hustle and bustle does not at all describe the market with electric trolleys full of fish whizzing past you, men in blood and fish soaked rubber aprons sidling past at high speed and fishy water being slung across the floor means that this was one of the more scary experiences. Grumpy looking fishmongers get stroppy with you looking in and trying to take pictures but there seems to be an acceptance from them that it’s going to happen so they try to ignore you. This also means that you have to be on your toes to get out of their way when they are moving fish around on trollies as they won’t accommodate you.
